Erfolgreich in die Stadt kommen - Den 10 Millionen Brüdern und Schwestern gewidmet, die in die Stadt kommen
DVD, 40 minutes, December 2006; Languages: Chinese with English captions (also available: Chinese with German captions); New Labor Art Troup, Bejing, Director: Sun Heng

The DVD shows that the 'Young Rural Migrants Arts Troupe', which was formed by migrant workers, since May 2002 used music, the acts include comedy routines, dances and kuaibanr recitations to perform wherever migrant workers gather: construction sites, factories, and the peri-urban communities where the migrants live.

'What we want is to express our emotions and to enrich the lives of rural migrants. Performance is only a means.'

'Their [migrant workers] daily lives are extraordinarily poor and dull. I still remember clearly how excitedly they reacted when we performed for the first time at a construction site in Tianjin,' Sun recalls. 'This motivated me to do more for them.'

The DVD is available to order at Asienstiftung (vertrieb@asienhaus.de) for 10 Euro each (postage exclusive)
